Additional Enertrac Information

How does it work?

The system consists of two parts. A transmitter (pictured below) is attached to the gauge on your propane or oil tank and then rests on the top of the tank and stays in place by magnets. The transmitter then sends a signal to a receiver that is installed by one of our company representatives in your home.

The receiver is attached to your computer in your home, and sends Proulx a regular update via the internet with the actual fuel level in your tank. The system will not interfere with your computer, is totally safe and secure, and does not need any other interaction with your system. Even if your computer is not turned on, the system only needs an internet signal to operate. If you have a wireless router already, we simply occupy one empty port on your router and the system setup is compete, usually in less than 5 minutes! If you do not have a wireless router system, Proulx will install a simple switch on your computer, again at no charge, which will enable the system to work in the background and without any interference with your computer system.

Is it safe to use?

Yes. The system is totally transparent to you, does not use any system memory, and does not provide us with any access to any information other than the IP address of your home. We do not access any information on your computer nor can anyone else. It is a totally safe and secure connection only providing Proulx with the fuel gauge data being sent to the receiver from the transmitter on your tank. Enertrac unit.

Why is this system so good that Proulx selected this technology?

Proulx has been working with remote tank level monitoring for years. Previous systems relied on using an 800# and land lines to communicate with Proulx. These systems while leading edge in their initial deployment have become less reliable than the new Enertrac system. Enertrac is the future for remote fuel level monitoring in helping Proulx to make more efficient deliveries, ensure our customers never run out of fuel, and provide additional peace of mind to our customers as well.

What is the cost?

For most of our customers, this system will be installed and maintained at no cost. For those customers who use less than a specified number of gallons (less than 100 gallons per year), there may be a slight charge for this service ($3/month per year). If a customer uses Proulx for multiple fuels (oil and propane), that fee will be waived.

Why is it important for low gallon customers to have this?

The majority of safety related fuel events have been found to occur in homes where a customer monitors their own fuel level and run out. Proulx sees Enertrac as a way for customers who need to monitor their own fuel level as a way to eliminate this from happening at a very low cost while improving safety in a significant way. For those with infrequent use or uses that are impossible for Proulx to manage with traditional degree day forecasting, the Enertrac system provides that extra level of safety to ensure our customers of all sizes don't run out of fuel and thus expose them to unnecessary potential issues associated with running out. The Enertrac system is meant to guard against run outs for every customer, improve safety, and increase peace of mind for all of our customers.

Can I save money by using the Enertrac system with Proulx?

Yes. Proulx will be able to deliver more efficiently and we will pass those savings on to our customers in the form of lower prices! If you live in a neighborhood where Proulx delivers to several of your neighbors, a "high gain receiver" system may be installed whereby Proulx can receive transmitter signals from several other tanks in your area. This system is identical to our single transmitter/receiver approach and follows all of the same protocols for use and installation. Customers who allow for Proulx to install a "high gain" receiver in their home will be afforded even lower prices from Proulx as well. Proulx will research this and let you know if you may qualify for even more benefits by working with us to locate a "high gain receiver" in your home! These "preferred pricing locations" will be awarded on a first come, first served basis with significant savings to the homes who agree to host a "high gain receiver".

Can I access tank level information without going outside to my tank gauge with Enertrac?

Yes. Customers will be able to log in to the system from the comforts of their keyboard, wherever they may be, and check their fuel gauge level if they desire.
