Announcements
Bretton Woods NH- Proulx Oil and Propane has recently completed
work with the Mount Washington Cog Railway in Breton Woods NH in
supporting the development of the first ever conversion of a solid fuel
(coal) burning steam locomotive to liquid fuel and specifically BioFuel.
Jim Proulx, President and CEO of Proulx Oil and Propane has been
working with the Historic Cog Railway on the development of the first
ever liquid fuel burner that will be used to power the 100+ year Cog
Engine #9, also known as "Vickie". The newly designed burner, firebox,
and Lempor design exhaust system was the work of Nigel "Steam" Day, a
world renowned steam engineer from Wales who has designed and perfected
the new engine using the same steam powered platform as has been used in
the past. The new engine design will now however use 100% BioFuel to
power the engine up and down the infamous Mount Washington Cog Railway.
A formal announcement will be coming from the Mount Washington Cog
Railway sometime in June with a large press event later in July of this
year. "This has been tried several times over the past 100 years without
success" said Proulx. "In fact many said that because of past failures, that this
could never be done. We did the impossible. This event is the most
significant event to happen at the Mount Washington Cog Railway since
the conversion from wood to coal around 1900. I am honored to have been
involved with this project and to have the opportunity to witness this
transformation first hand while working with Nigel Day. He is an amazing
individual with talents that are immeasurable. To have Proulx Oil and
Propane be a part of this historic event is both rewarding and humbling.
We look forward to the continued transformation of the balance of the
Cog engines to liquid fuel and specifically BioFuel. The benefit to the
environment, the customers, and the workers around the Cog will be
remarkable."
